Biodiversity Restoration: Our Commitment to the DRC
We are initiating a significant reforestation project in the Democratic Republic of Congo, aiming to restore 50,000 hectares of land with indigenous tree species. Our site is secured, and we have a comprehensive list of native plants ready for cultivation. In addition to reforestation, we plan to reintroduce native wildlife, primarily sourced from surplus animals in zoos and rescued from poachers, as well as transfers from neighboring reserves.
Alongside the forest restoration, we will establish an additional savannah, where we will plant various acacia species and conduct large-scale reintroduction of wildlife from Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Tanzania. Our project's objectives are to restore local flora and fauna, promote eco-tourism, and breed animals for transfer to other depleted reserves.
We are actively seeking funding for this ambitious initiative and are currently preparing an application to the African Development Bank (AfDB). This vital project is located in Ngidinga, in the Kongo-Central province of the DRC.
