Kiala-Inkisi Foundation
About the Kiala-Inkisi Foundation
Since 2007, Jean has been actively involved in Central Africa with various projects aimed at addressing local needs. What started as small initiatives soon grew into sustainable solutions for the challenges many communities face. By 2012, these projects began to expand, eventually leading to the founding of the Kiala-Inkisi Foundation in 2020.
The reason Jean founded the Kiala-Inkisi Foundation is because he was disappointed with international organizations such as the UN, including its subsidiaries like WHO, WFP, FAO, UNEP, UNHCR, IFAD, and major international NGOs. These organizations often lose touch with the reality on the ground and act out of corporate interests, hindered by bureaucracy from their ivory towers. Jean undertakes projects that others wouldn't even consider starting, yet they are essential for the well-being of the communities he serves.
Our foundation primarily operates in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), but we also extend our activities to countries such as the Republic of Congo, Angola, Central African Republic, South Sudan, and Uganda. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for local communities by investing in projects that contribute to a sustainable future.
Our areas of focus are broad and diverse, as we believe that real impact requires change on multiple fronts. The key areas we are involved in include:
- Agriculture & Agroforestry: Innovative farming methods that ensure sustainable food production and reforestation.
- Food Forests & Medicinal Plants: Establishing food forests and promoting the cultivation of medicinal plants to support health and well-being.
- Anti-Venom & Healthcare: Setting up clinics and providing access to life-saving anti-venom.
- Apiculture & Aquaculture: Supporting local communities through beekeeping (apiculture) and fish farming (aquaculture) projects.
- Livestock Improvements & Wildlife Conservation: Enhancing livestock practices and conserving wildlife for future generations.
- Tourism & Nature Preservation: Promoting sustainable tourism and nature preservation to strengthen local economies.
- Clean Water & Renewable Energy: Providing access to clean water and encouraging the use of renewable energy sources.
- Climate Change & Land Restoration: Initiatives aimed at combating the effects of climate change and restoring degraded land.
- Family Planning & Education: Supporting programs focused on family planning and education, with special attention to the youth and the forest communities.
- Wene Wa Kongo: Preserving and promoting the culture and heritage of the BaKongo (Kongo people).
At the Kiala-Inkisi Foundation, sustainability, empowerment, and collaboration with local communities are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are working toward a better future for Central Africa.
